thredUP kids: Clothing Swaps Made Easy

thredUP kids Beta LaunchKids grow up fast, but unfortunately their clothes don't grow with them. Did you know parents spend nearly $20,000 on a child's clothing before he or she turns 17?

thredUP kids is a brand new community to help parents swap kids' clothing in a convenient and ultimately more efficient and eco-friendly way.

How does it work

In their words, "thredUP lets parents across America exchange boxes of clothes that no longer fit their kids for stylish ones that will - all through an easy to use online interface, with their closest friends, and from the convenience of home.

"Unlike typical 'swap, buy or sell' sites out there, thredUP eliminates critical friction making it much more convenient for the average family. On thredUP there is no bidding, no auctions lots, no rifling through consignment racks, no bartering and absolutely no trips to the post office. It's the perfect solution for busy parents looking to save time and money."

The clothing swaps are a little like Netflix: you choose a box of gently used clothing you'd like to receive. Next, pay for shipping and agree to list a box of your own child's clothes. The box is sent to you from another member, and then when someone else picks your box, USPS will pick up the box at your house, free of charge.

thredUP does monitor quality and will handle all the minor details, so instead of spending a lot of money, giving away clothes and letting hand-me-downs go to waste, you can get just what your child needs.

The best part is that during thredUP's beta launch, they're giving away 1,000 free kids' clothing swaps.
