DIY Fall Arrangements with Fresh Roses
There's nothing quite like the beautiful blooms and delicate fragrance of roses to make a centerpiece really pop.
If you're anything like me, the idea of creating your own floral arrangement might be a little intimidating, but rest assured - a lovely bouquet of roses does practically all the work for you.
I was recently introduced to Passion Growers, a collection of state-of-the-art farms and greenhouses that provides more than 150 different varieties of roses to stores across North America.
Passion Growers offers roses that are grown with responsibility for the environment and the communities and employees who work for them.
When you buy roses from Passion Growers (either online at ProFlowers.com or at your nearest retail location), you can expect some of the most extraordinary fresh flowers you've ever seen.
In the projects below, I worked with some gorgeous fall blooms, including shades of orange, cream and peach. One simple way to save a little money on your floral arrangements is to use off-season colors along with silk or faux seasonal accents.
I'm hardly a pro at arranging florals, but with the photos above, you can get an idea of the extreme versatility roses offer. With a little floral foam, some interesting and unusual containers and some seasonal silk florals, you can let your imagination go wild and create a truly spectacular centerpiece or arrangement for any occasion.
The first photo shows you how you can combine fresh roses with silk flowers in a contrasting color to create a "topiary" look. Obviously, this example isn't complete, but imagine how great it would look when it's finished - covered completely in your favorite roses and other flowers. You can opt to cover an entire foam sphere with just roses, or you can do what I started here and alternate them.
The second photo is a great seasonal example for autumn. To achieve this look, I used a glass fish bowl-style vase, a smaller glass container to fit inside, fresh roses and assorted glass marbles, silk leaves and mini gourds. The great thing about this arrangement is that you can keep the roses in water in the second hidden container inside.
The third photo shows how you can take an unusual container - in this case, a woven turkey basket that would be perfect for a Thanksgiving table - and make it a fun centerpiece with just the addition of some roses and a few accent pieces. This is by far the simplest of the arrangements shown here, so even if you don't fancy yourself a crafty person (which I'm not), it's fairly simple to achieve a nice look.
Hopefully, these basic examples will spark your creativity and make you a little less intimidated by using fresh flowers. When you use fresh roses and other flowers, the possibilities are literally endless. Just be sure you feed the flowers according to the directions prior to using them in an arrangement.
