IndieSpotting FAQs
What is IndieSpotting?

IndieSpotting is a gallery showcasing fantastic photos of indie and handmade goods available for sale online. It's a place to be inspired and "window shop" for unique, one-of-a-kind and cool products.

IndieSpotting is not a retail store - all of the items found here are available for sale elsewhere online.

How do I submit a picture of an indie find?

Anyone can submit a picture, but if you do not own the copyright to the photo, you must attribute it to the rightful owner.

To submit your photo, simply click here. You'll need to provide IndieSpotting with your e-mail address, a link to the indie find and a JPG file.

How often can I submit a photo?

At this time, we ask that you please limit your photo submissions to one per week. Please give everyone a fair chance!

We don't accept duplicate submissions, so please don't submit the same item more than once!

What are your submission guidelines?
  • Do not violate anyone's copyrights (ie: don't say a photo belongs to you if it doesn't, and always link to the proper owner's web site).
  • Post quality, properly exposed and color-balanced photos of handmade or indie products. Only great photos will be accepted for our gallery.
  • Photos will be cropped and resized to 200px by 200px and may be adjusted slightly for exposure.
  • We reserve the right to remove posts if we feel the content is irrelevant, inappropriate or in violation of copyrights.
  • We are not responsible for making changes to erroneous information provided by users (i.e. changing prices, etc.).
  • All submissions are moderated - that means they're not posted immediately to the site.
What size photo can I submit?

Please submit an image at least 200 pixels high and 200 pixels wide. Any photos smaller than this are ineligible for feature.

How will I know if my indie find is posted?

Please check back at IndieSpotting daily to see if your find has been posted and to browse the other handmade goodies! You can also keep up with our latest updates on Twitter and Facebook.

Why wasn't my photo accepted?

IndieSpotting tries to post the most exceptional photos of handmade and indie products. Some of the most common reasons photos don't appear on the site are:

  • Improper exposure (too dark, blown out, etc.)
  • Lighting (color cast, harsh shadows)
  • Poor resolution or distortion
  • Out of focus
  • The photo is smaller than 200px square
  • The photo doesn't appear at the link provided
  • The photo contains distracting text or a watermark
  • The link provided is dead or incorrect
  • Your item sold out or your shop is closed
  • The item has already been featured
What if I don't want it to appear on IndieSpotting?

If this is the case (and we sure hope it's not), simply contact us and we'll remove it as soon as possible.
