Lee Page of La Jardinière walks us through two easy Halloween-themed floral arrangements that will dress up your home and impress guests.
Page is a Hurricane Katrina survivor and now runs La Jardinière out of Houston. He is a talented florist who serves the Houston and New Orleans metro areas.
First and foremost, the important thing to remember is that we are creating memories. This should be a family project and will be talked about for years to come.
You will need a small pumpkin about the size of a child's baseball cap. Select some fall color - daisies, roses, and assorted filler with fall leaves.
You start with taking the pumpkin and carefully carving the crown out (the part with the stem). Then, take a spoon and scoop out the filling. Discard the seeds.
Be sure to boil and cook the pumpkin. Again, a family project to be used in pumpkin cookies or small pumpkin pies.
You then take a wire hanger, secure it to the crown of the pumpkin and mount the pumpkin crown like a hat.
Take a small piece of green oasis (green floral foam) and put in pumpkin.
Begin by cutting flowers and arranging in a bouquet in an eye-appealing manner.
This could be a centerpiece for the table by the candy bowl, or place a candle in the center and use it on the centerpiece on the table.
Sweet Corn Candy HarvestYou want to get a bubble bowl (aka small fish bowl) and small plastic cup, a large bag of candy corn, some fall leaves, yellow and orange pom poms and daisies, and orange roses.
Start with placing plastic cup in bubble bowl and fill the areas between the bubble bowl and cup with candy corn.
Then, put a quarter brick of green oasis in cup and begin to cut and arrange flowers in a way that appeals to you.
For an extra special touch, you can tie straw raffia around the bowl.
